MISSION
At Reaching Out our main mission is to:
1) Spread the Word of God
2) Feed the poor
3) Assist single parent homes
4) Assist with the needs of God's people
Spreading the Word of God
How do we do this?
Through leaflet articles which get distributed through various newspapers to peoples homes.
How do we get their attention?
We use topics of interest in these articles which are attention grabbing, from end times and Bible predictions to evolution, abortion and same-sex marriages. If the world is interested in what Nostradamus has had to say (considering that the majority of his "predictions" were wrong) then the prophesies of the Bible aught to blow them away.
What else?
We want Reaching Out to become a household name, because if people know about us then they'll definitely have heard about Jesus. With the help of something as simple as a monthly Saturday morning car wash, we aim to show people the love, joy and excitement which is Jesus. We want to be present at functions and rally's and become a voice which is heard when it comes to issues in this country such as abortion and same-sex marriages.
Feeding the Poor
How do we do this?
We make sandwiches. Lots and lots of sandwiches. We then go to different points each morning and hand these sandwiches out, letting the recipients know that Jesus loves them and also give out Zulu and English tracts telling them about the love of God.
What else?
As we grow Reaching Out will also be making food parcels and distributing them to those in need. Over and above this we will aim to be handing out other items which will include things such as blankets and clothing. If you have anything you wish to give which you feel the poor will benefit from, then give us a shout and we'll come collect it from you.
Assist Single Parent Homes
Why?
The Bible explicitly instructs us to care for widows and orphans:
James 1:27 (NIV)
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Being a single parent is a form of widowhood, whether or not a spouse has actually passed away, and it is our responsibility to help single parents where possible.
How do we do this?
What better way to be a blessing to a single mom or dad by approaching them and saying that we would like to pay a months rent for them? Or to arrive at their front door with packets of groceries? If there is a need a single parent may have, we'd like to assist them with it.
Assist with the Needs of God's People
Why?
So many people are considered to be above the poverty line but are not financially secure enough to meet certain needs. As such, they tend to be put into a bracket where they are forgotten. Financial assistance is often required of them, but nothing is done to help them when they are in need. We would like to be a blessing to the average salary earner to let them know that they too are special and important and we do think of them.
How do we do this?
Assistance Cards will be placed in various Churches of which completed cards will be collected on a weekly basis. These cards will give people the opportunity to list either a specific need they or a friend may have. Reaching Out Ministries will prayerfully consider each need and will assist where possible.
