LIFE IS TURBULENT - ENJOY THE RIDE I don't think that my life has ever been as turbulent as it is now - but, moreover, I can say that it also has never been as exciting. I think I definitely agree with Rick Warren that our lives aren't ever so much as having just good times (being on the mountain top) and then bad times (being in the valleys) but are a combination of both at the same time which are running parallel to each other like the rails of train tracks. We just need to choose which side we're going to focus on the most. I can honestly say that 2010, thus far, has been the worst year of my life. And yet, it has also been the most fascinating and most content. Hmmm. Does that even make sense? It does when I realize that, no matter what has happened, I have learnt to be content in all things. God has definitely been doing an amazing work in my life and my desire for the future is to be continually transformed into the image of Christ, no matter how painful the transformation can be, because at the end of the day God only ever has my best interests at heart. Since I was young I've desired to be in the ministry full time for God. I never wanted to be just a "Sunday Christian". I must confess - He did warn me. It's not going to be an easy road. It's going to be tough and it's going to be painful. That's okay God, I want to do it. Thank goodness He didn't tell me exactly what I would be going through, or else I probably would have chickened out. But looking back on my life now seems the equivalent of a mountain climber scaling great cliffs of a tall mountain and then looking down at the progress made whilst resting in crags and going, "Wow! Did I just climb that?" But we must never forget to continually, on a daily basis, keep filling ourselves up with the Word and Spirit of God. Following God is tiring work, but well worth the effort if we take care of ourselves by resting in Him. The devil is no laid back adversary. He's not some pathetic villain we see in these third rate movies that even a child can take on with silly tricks - he's evil, he's full of hatred towards us and he wants us to suffer as he's never wanted anything before. Spiritual warfare is not child's play, and if you go into it treating it like a joke you're going to come out severely burnt and despondent. In fact, you'll probably end up blaming God. It's amazing how we love to blame God when things don't go our way. Can anybody show me where in the Bible it says that if we follow God our lives are going to be nothing more than fluffy bunnies and flowers and playing harps all day while we tell people how much Jesus loves them? It's hard; it's tough; and it's not for sissies. Following the world is easy. Standing out and making a difference takes character. And God is the ultimate character-shaper. I don't know what the rest of this year has in store for me, but I will face it head on because I know God has me covered. He is working everything out for my own good and I trust in Him. God bless
