WHY NOT JESUS?

What’s wrong with Him?

The world, in general, not wanting to accept the Lordship and leadership of Jesus can be put down to two main reasons (yet by no means the only reasons):

1. With so many various denominations, divisions and cults all claiming to know the truth about God and what He wants for us on earth, who’s to be believed and which one should be joined?

2. Due to the age old sin known as pride, many people battle to get past the concept of needing a Saviour; someone to rely on other than themselves. That requires faith and trust and simply too many people don’t have time for that.

The question is: which one are you?

Sadly, even many Christians fall victim to point number 2. They clothe themselves with the guise of Christianity but their hearts are far from God. They are the ones, in fact, who give Christianity a bad name.

So what then is the answer? With so many different religions, why should the world then follow Jesus, and only Him?

Well, for so many reasons:

1. He’s amazing – if you’re even wondering why you should follow Jesus then you’ve never met Him and experienced His awesomeness. It’s nothing that can be described, only personally felt by the believer.

2. He is the only Way, Truth and Life to get into heaven – listen to Him about this. He wasn’t joking.

3. He doesn’t love…He IS love – any love you ever got from your parents or what you feel for your kids or that special someone in your life can NEVER compare to the love Jesus has for you because He is the source of love itself.

You need to understand and get this before you’ll ever grasp how important His death on the cross was for you and me.

4. Jesus is God – there are various things God cannot do purely due to the fact that it goes against his personality, such as lying. Because of this fact, Jesus not only does not lie, He CANNOT lie. It’s against His very fibre to. This fact makes Him trustworthy. You can trust Him with your hopes, dreams and fears up to your very life.

Once you’ve tasted of the awesomeness and love of Jesus there is no going back. You will even look back on your life and wonder how you ever managed this far in life without Him.

This is no trick, gimmick or fly-by-night deal. God isn’t trying to get your vote to win a popularity contest – He created you and is simply trying to have a relationship with you.

If you haven’t already, some day you will have to realize that our lives, as individuals, will come to an end. It’s easier to ignore the fact that death is inevitable than to face up to it, but it’s not going to go away just by pretending that it’s not there.

Are we really such cowards?

People are quick to set up retirement funds and investments as a cushion for their later years, but try to discuss the hereafter and you’ll very quickly find yourself in a crowd of one. Preparing to meet our Maker is the most important thing we can ever do, yet it’s one that gets shunted to the end of our to-do list and continually postponed.

Meeting with God and having a personal relationship with Jesus isn’t a dreaded task that features next to doing the dishes, spring-cleaning the house or visiting the in-laws, it’s a privilege that should be embraced with open arms and enthusiasm.

If you’re not enthusiastic about meeting Jesus then you’ve obviously got the wrong impression of Him.

So what about which church to join? Well, meet with Jesus first and let Him lead you to the right place where He wants you to be. Remember, God may lead you to a place that doesn’t know Him (whether it be a place of worship, work or recreation) in order for you to be a witness to those there.

Don’t use the behaviour of other Christian’s to avoid having a relationship with God. At the end of the day the accountability will be yours.
