THE DEMISE OF MARRIAGE
As South Africans we find ourselves facing a major bone of contention with regards to the redefining of the Marriage Act. The question is do we protect the Biblical definition of marriage, that it should be solely between one man and one woman, or just make it a free for all for the sake of playing nice so everyone can be make-believe friends.until the next contentious issue arises?
It's at times when decisions like these need to be made that Christians are often portrayed as being intolerant and dogmatic in their beliefs. If God loves us all then surely He wouldn't mind us being with whatever partner we've so happened to have fallen in love with?
Well, yes and no. He may be a God of love, but He's not a God of tolerance when it comes to compromising and the watering down of His Word. So what does His Word have to say on the issue? Many Christians simply point to Leviticus 20:13a:
"If a man lies with a man as one lies with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable."
But what about something more recent, like Romans 1:18 - 27:
The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness.Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator - who is forever praised. Amen.
Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.
As seen above, the Bible refers to homosexuality as an indecent act and a shameful lust. So we can either re-write the Bible and leave out contentious verses, like those found in Leviticus and Romans, or we can simply ignore those verses all in an attempt to play nice.OR we can take our heads out of the sand and face reality. Homosexuality is not a part of God's divine plan, no matter how one may try to argue it.
Charles Krauthammer summed up the demoralization of society perfectly when he said:
"It's not enough for the deviant to be normalized. The normal must be found to be deviant."
It seems that it's easier for people to accept homosexuality as being a norm than to actually stand up against it. It's easier to persecute those who would stand up for the divine institution of marriage than to stand against the abnormal institution of homosexuality.
Why is it that when looking at a gay couple, people automatically ask, "Who's the male and who's the female in that relationship?", or, "I can see that he/she is definitely the male and the other definitely the female." Even to those who accept the homosexual state, the partners in the relationship still get defined by the male/female sexuality. This is because we have the sense of right and wrong instilled within us.
Two men together and two women together is as unnatural as having two keys with no locks.
Since the beginning of time the devil has done his utmost to corrupt and pervert every good thing God has done and has given us. What better way to pervert the sanctity of marriage than by mixing up the marriage partners? God instructed us to be fruitful and multiply. What better way to pervert this natural process of family than by putting two people together who can't fulfill this instruction without the help of a third party (surrogate mother or adoption agency)?
Jesus died for homosexuals every bit as much as He died for all other people, but God's Word stands - there is to be no compromise when it comes to their sexual preferences. The Bible does not support homosexuality and it most certainly does not support same-sex marriages.
The Bible is clear on the stand we need to take:
Matthew 12:30
He who is not with me is against me, and he who does not gather with me scatters.
Isaiah 7:9b
If you do not stand firm in your faith, you will not stand at all.
The time has come for a "new breed" of Christian to arise from the ashes of our society's sickening spiral downfall of immorality and degradation. Christ has called us to be warriors for Him, not wimps. This world and this country will never stop perverting the right ways of our Lord as long as we simply sit back and allow the wrongs to happen.
The spiritual battle lines have been drawn and it's time to take your stand today.
